How Well Do People Stick To Their New Year’s Resolutions?

569

We’re already into January, and while the majority of people who set a new year’s resolution this year are likely to still be going strong, statistics from the UK and Ireland suggest that only 84% of people make it past the first week – that means 16% have ditched their resolutions already. A bigger drop-off can be seen by the end of January – less than half of people are still sticking to their plans at 44% by the end of the first month of the year. Only 13% keep their resolutions up for the whole year, though some resolutions are achievements that could be completed in under a year (for instance 5.3% of people have a resolution to learn something new, and 4.3% to find love).
