Gosha Rubchinskiy today unveiled a second creative collaboration with Burberry as part of his AW18 runway show at Yekaterinburg’s Yeltsin Center Museum. Created in collaboration with the Russian designer, the 13-piece collection celebrates Burberry’s outerwear icons and the check with the introduction this season of scarves and shoes. New outerwear styles include a reconstructed cotton-gabardine trench coat, which combines trench and car coat design details, as well as oversized wool-blend duffle coats, in addition to oversized check flannel shirts and bucket hats.
‘Continuing our creative collaboration with Gosha for his latest show wasn’t even a question for either of us – we have enjoyed the process over the last year working together so much, that we both felt like there was so much more we could do together. Gosha is not only an incredibly talented designer, he also has a unique sensitivity to and awareness of the “now”, which he captures so brilliantly in everything he does, from his collections and photographs, to the casting, and styling in his shows. It has been a complete joy and privilege to work with him so closely and we are all so excited to see our latest collaboration come to life on the runway and beyond.’
Christopher Bailey, Burberry President and Chief Creative Officer
‘Christopher and I have a great understanding of each other’s work. After a strong SS18 collaboration and my photographic participation in Burberry’s September show through the Here We Are zine and exhibition, we wanted to take our collaboration one step further. It was important that Burberry be part of my new collection as it was one of the first iconic western brands to reach Russia after the Soviet collapse. It was very popular here in the 90’s, so much so that Boris Yeltsin can even be seen wearing a Burberry scarf in pictures from the time in the Museum where we presented the show.’
Burberry’s first collection with Gosha launched online and in selected stores globally last week at Burberry, Dover Street Market and Comme des Garçons concessions, following its reveal at Gosha’s SS18 show in St Petersburg in June 2017. The AW18 collection will launch in July 2018. Visit burberry.com/gosha-x- burberry/ for more information and updates.
