An art installation that is also a fully-functioning nightclub? Fondazione Prada with help of Carsten Höller showcased a new idea called “The Prada Double Club Miami”.

„Let’s explore the best of two worlds, brought together in two adjacent locations, without any concession to fusion, a kind of schizophrenic wonderland (if only “schizophrenia” could be positively used to describe the double sidedness which is at the heart of beauty).” said Baldo Hauser

Carsten Höller second time done iteration, he debuted in London in 2008 for eight months with „Double Club”. First place was set up as a secluded “guerrilla” venue. Was a living artwork to be as challenging and enjoyable. In „Double Club” wad restaurant, bar and disco and each one of them equally divided into Western and Congolese parts. That project generated a division and built new experiment. From one side it was the electric energy of Congo and from second recognizable elements of Western culture. Culinary, musical and aesthetic details weare the components that created an iconically culture.

And in the new project Höller still explore two-sidedness. The audience is presented with two different spaces which offer visually and acoustically opposed experiences, with no concession to fusion. The goal of Club in Miami created for Prada  is to allow art to move outside its usual restrictive contexts. It is a real life experiment that conceived as a human experiment exploring the idea of duality in a playful environment. The unsettle atmosphere can create a powerful dialogue. “The Prada Double Club Miami” is a physical embodiment of what an art installation can become: people become living components of a participatory experience and engage with the surrounding environment on multiple levels.

In one space is presented music by DJs and international live music artists and other you can feel Caribbean and South American rhythm. All of performers identify with Höller’s project and they are a part. With the help was created a special atmosphere in the club and  guests can cross a permeable boundaries to venture into a double dimension and “schizophrenic” journey.
