5 Georgian designers you should keep an eye on after Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tbilisi 2017

Generation Now, Generation Next – under this slogan 43 Georgian and foreigner designers have united their Spring-Summer 2018 collections for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tbilisi 2017. With some of the coolest teens and concept stores in the underground fashion scene, the Georgian capital Tbilisi is proving to be once again the shining hot spot of Eastern Europe.

During the five days period Tbilisi was on the covers of the glossy magazines. Spring-Summer 18 collections from the Georgian designers became the object of the fashion critics. Up to 30 journalists and buyers from all over the world came to Tbilisi for this fashion week.

Among decades of collections and shows we have made selection of the most catchy and trendy collections from the runways.

Anouki Areshidze embraced the Italian spirit into her collection; taking inspiration from the Italian islands and their unforgettable culture. There is everything included in this collection – starting from essential denim and ethereal shirts to fabulous evening-wear.

The collection is a complete women’s wardrobe for any kind of holiday occasion – be it the beach, a dinner or a party.

Absolute hit of the season, selected among ten favorite accessories by Vogue – are all fashionistas’ favorite super narrow sunglasses by George Keburia. Keburia knows how to mix polish and the underground cool vibes that Tbilisi is known for. The clothes looked straight out of the late 80’s prom.

Djaba Diasamidze has already caught audience’s attention during the last season with his collection of elegant dresses. After this Angelina Jolie posed for September 2017 Vanity Fair Cover Shoot wearing his wide-brimmed hat.
During his Spring-Summer 2018 ready to wear collection show Djaba was on the stage, participating in process and organizing models himself.

With the background of the black dresses the red elegant dress was really catchy one. The model in this red dress was placed on the stairs like an impressive crown of the whole collection.

Situationist by Irakli Rusadze had a big year, showing abroad at Milan Fashion Week and gaining international fans like Bella Hadid. Rusadze is keeping his popularity for Spring 2018 as well, holding his show at the swimming pool – turned into club Bassiani – a space known for heavy techno sets in Tbilisi. Breaking up the monotony was a light blue pullover with a large pocket in the front, as well as bags embellished with the logo of the Sega gaming system.

And finally selected fifth collection: working for on of the Georgian brands MATÉRIEL Lado Bokuchava focused on a clean fabric palette and 80’s-style dresses.

Besides this,  it should be mentioned that during MBFW Tbilisi there was a debut of Lado Bokuchava’s own label “LADO BOKUCHA” defining own identity of this young designer that once again proves an important role of MBFW Tbilisi in supporting young designers’ talent and aspiration for fashion.
