The Spring / Summer 2018 Women’s Collection is inspired by travel through various types of jungle, including exotic and psychedelic ones. The parade has combined intercultural references in one palette of colors, creativity, optimism, singularity, nonconformity and vitality: the silhouettes were casual but textured, with elements ranging from raffia to pois and has been emphasized on comfort and patterns.
The pieces included color-block jerseys with stranded grid lines, while kimonos and i Pajama-style volumes were packaged in highly fluid fabrics. Jackets (shorts, leather or denim) were enriched with jewelery with golden accents while bohemian skirts and dresses they showed surreal geometric prints. In the mix of fantasies there were also Tahitian flowers, palm trees and even Topolino prints.
The Spring / Summer 2018 show also included a 16-piece capsule collection by Jean-Paul Goude itself, called “Desigual Couture” and depicting the intersection between the aesthetic approach of the artistic director and Desigual. With the intention of describing the best his creative engagement, Goude said he had beaten for “cultural diversity, the street chic as a democratic form of fashion, for festivity, originality, rhythm, humor: all values that they refer not only to Desigual’s identity, but to myself as well “and concluded by stating that both “we are on the same wavelength”. As a whole, the collection Spring / Summer 2018 is like a puzzle composed of so many pieces that enclose everyone’s spirit by Desigual. “Unexpected”, but also dynamic and authentic.
