Sacai announces the opening of Jardin sacai at colette – a month long residency showcasing the world of sacai, hosted by the design house’s original Paris home, colette.

Opening on September 4, Jardin sacai takes inspiration from the city’s parks – the Parisian elegance of formal hedges, juxtaposed with the playful, unabashed humour of fairground rides.

Trompe l’oeil ‘hedges’ segment a space that invites visitors into an immersive experience, painting a picture of the spirit of sacai, where having fun is equal to the joy of shopping; where couture techniques play with a streetier attitude.

A pop up cafe serves Japan’s TORIBA COFFEE, Toraya, traditional confectionery founded in the early 16th century and light bites made with Japanese BALMUDA toasters. The store features a mix up of multi-form products curated and re-imagined by designer Chitose Abe, alongside exclusive sacai ready to wear women’s, men’s and, uniquely, children’s wear pieces available only during September at Jardin sacai at colette. In the spirit of being a meeting place for like-minded friends, sacai welcome Fragment Design and its legendary founder Hiroshi Fujiwara, in a dedicated space with exclusive products. Bespoke furniture comes from the hand of another long-time collaborator, product designer GELCHOP, melding recognisable furniture archetypes and modern with vintage, to make something new. An exhibition of photographer Craig McDean’s archive work for sacai is shown throughout the store and appears on limited edition tees.

Exclusive products and unexpected cross-pollinations, with new deliveries every week:

sacai men’s, women’s, kids and bags, ceramics by Astier de Villatte, AMBUSH, Be@rbrick by MEDICOM TOY, Charlotte Chesnais jewels, CONVERSE, GLOBE-TROTTER, LACOSTE, Levi’s jeans, Olympia Le-Tan, organic beauty products by SHIGETA, The North Face, and much more……

sacai designer, Chitose Abe says: “To me, colette is a spiritual home for sacai. The store was one of the very first to embrace my work and it’s been a real meeting of minds. It’s an honour to have been chosen and trusted with Sarah’s wonderful playground.”

colette’s Sarah Andelman says, “I remember visiting sacai’s first ever showroom more than 15 years ago and falling in love with Chitose Abe’s vision, so I’m particularly happy to welcome jardin sacai at colette in September. I’m honoured to give the house of sacai a very well deserved space to express its unique character, with this beautiful project that’s been created for our first floor. Expect lots of surprises!”
