Trendy Fashion Essentials for Fall/Winter 2017/2018

Velvet is once again a fashion trend, however, for fall/winter 2017/2018 it is more formal – designs are cut from the rich fabric for jewel-tone formalwear. Moreover, wide waist belts are also making their comeback this season and pink is gonna be the color of the upcoming winter. This Rejina Pyo‘s ‘Claire’ jacket is cut from crinkled and crushed velvet, with an exaggerated collar and sliced bell cuffs.

Another trend is Victorian-inspired collars. This Jonathan Simkhai’s romantic turtleneck gown has a distinct Victorian feel. Designed in a soft peach hue, this body-skimming style has a corded lace bodice with geometric crochet-knit paneling and falls to tiers of pleated tulle.

Black patent-leather pants with wide cut – something that you must have in your wordrobe for the upcoming season. Off-White’s cropped pair is made from glossy black leather and appliquéd with the label’s logo in tonal suede.

Broad shoulders – this season you will be borrowing them from the men. Oversized menswear blazers were spotted at Alexander Wang, Dries Van Noten, Off-White and others, resolving the once never-ending debate on whether shoulder pads should return. This IRO‘s oversized coat is made from black textured-leather and lined in cozy white shearling.

Deconstructed classics is the new formal this fall and winter. This Balenciaga’s top has a cool draped silhouette, inspired by the ripping effect of being caught in a car door. Moreover, blue is one of the chicest colors for the colder season.

Floral prints are not only for summer – designers are applying vintage floral prints to everything. These Joseph Altuzarra‘s ‘Elliot’ boots are made from tactile matelassé and printed with florals inspired by hand-painted Victorian illustrations.

Leopard print prowled down the catwalks once again this season giving a touch on the wild side. Animal print has long been a Dolce & Gabbana signature and these round-toe Mary Jane pumps are stylish by day and glamorous by night.

One more trendy combination of floral prints and classic black – Valentino’s romantic shirt dress is cut from silk crepe de chine printed with pastel blooms and also has a pretty sequined Peter Pan collar that can be removed for versatility. It’s trimmed with ruffles and has accordion-pleated godet inserts that sway as you walk.

Velvet, leather and gold ornate embellishments – Miu Miu’s clutch seems as if it came straight from the closet of a roaring ’20s socialite. A stylish statement for almost any occasion.

Chloé’s latest bag – the ‘Owen’ – in trendy neutral color is perfect for the colder season. It is also defined by its unique sliding closure.
