The ads capture four different collage in urban surroundings. Clothes are captured on the walls painted in graffiti but the main attention is attracted to the messages with phrases such as; Any way out of this nightmare, I love you, youth project etc.
The same messages were presented in Autumn/Winter 2017/18 collection show which presented the diversity of the city of New York. Raf found inspiration in what is being a new kid in a rapid city would reputedly look and feel like.
Phrases written in pieces of duct tape worn as belts clinched tight over the waist. The random words were complemented in colors as black,beige, light pink, emerald and olive green, dark red, white, purple with wool knitwear, satin-sheen, leather, cotton, wool, silver materials.
Attention is attracted not only by tape but also striped arm warmers, wide pockets, loafers, necklaces accessories.
Equally important in Raf Simons’ approach is the constant quest for innovation. The designs are always looking for the now and tomorrow, even if they are inspired by historical or classical references.
Throughout the years, with the signature style evolving and maturing, the key elements stay the same: modern proportions, a constant research for fabrics and textures and above all the interplay of pure construction and new shapes with the body and psyche of the contemporary man.
