Yesterday, Piaget marked the launch of Sunlight Journey by hosting a gala dinner on set at Cinecittà, the legendary film studios in Rome. To celebrate the glamour and radiance of a new high jewellery collection inspired by the different moods the sun creates from dawn until dusk, Piaget transformed the set for one night only into an immersive “Sunlight Journey” experience that captured the sun-filled magic of the Piaget lifestyle.

Piaget’s newest collection draws inspiration from the scenic beauty of the Amalfi Coast – a land of fire, volcanoes, blue sees and textured landscapes all bathed in magnificent light, and a Mediterranean destination of choice for the Piaget society. At each time of the day from sunrise to sunset, the light evolves to create unique moods captured with unbridled creativity through the dazzling colours of exceptional gems such as blue sapphires and yellow diamonds.

Style icon and face of the collection Piaget Possession, Olivia Palermo and husband Johannes Huebl, actors Juliette Binoche and Claudia Cardinale, , and models Barbara Palvin, Coco Rocha, Shanina Shaik and Cheyenne Tozzi were among the guests to join Piaget CEO Chabi Nouri for the presentation of the new creations, discovering different experiences and surprises as the evening unfolded. On arrival, they enjoyed cocktails in a space reminiscent of the backstage area of a movie set. In the studios where many iconic and award-winning films were filmed including La Dolce Vita, guests were invited to step into different sets to the soundtrack of famous movies and be part of their own movie adventure.

Behind wood panels, a dinner area was revealed, staged like a romantic Italian village piazza with a canopy of bright bougainvillea suspended above. Surrounded by this Mediterranean sun-lit décor, guests enjoyed a meal by two-star Michelin chef GENNARO ESPOSITO. During the final chapter of the evening in the after-party area, international star ALOE BLACC serenaded the audience with his soulful music before guests danced the night away to the beats of DJ Florian Sailer.

The launch of the new Piaget High Jewellery collection, Sunlight Journey, provides an opportunity to discover an exceptional ring inspired by a singular gem named Piaget Blue, after the Maison’s favourite colour.

Embodying a free-roaming escapade following the path of the sun amid a decor inspired by the Amalfi Coast, the collection plays on all the nuances and contrasts of the varied materials and evocative hues gracing this vibrant region. In the heart of the day, at high noon, an anthem to blue-tinted harmonies unfolds before our eyes. One particular colour stands out in a unique way: that of a stone whose history is the stuff of legends and is beyond doubt a masterwork within the Sunlight Journey range.

The Piaget Blue sapphire can lay claim to numerous superlatives, including its impressive 53.45-carat weight, its extreme purity, as well as its deep, intense Royal Blue colour magnified by a cushion cut. The result is simply mesmerising and the enchantment began with the obsessive quest for this gem. It was unearthed in the early 1980s in an eight-century-old Burmese mine located in the Mogok Valley, renowned for the singular, deep colour of its sapphires. It created quite a stir before becoming shrouded in mystery and vanishing. An impassioned search undertaken by the Piaget gemmologists enabled the Maison to track down and acquire the elusive treasure.

This exceptional gem erases any distinction between sky and sea, thereby inspiring the in-house designers to create an airily sculpted structure adorned with brilliant-cut diamonds and providing fascinating glimpses of this rare stone’s many facets.

Piaget Blue Ring is in and of itself an odyssey into blue infinity, a round-the-world voyage to rediscover and acquire this admirable stone, a journey into the heart of the Maison Piaget, culminating in the radiant territory of its creative design.
