Interview with Kate Lee, CHANEL Make up Artist, about Lily-Rose Depp’s look:

Whose makeup did you apply tonight, and how long have you been working together?
I worked with Lily-Rose Depp this evening, and it was my first time working with her.

What inspired you for her look tonight?
We went for a statement eye with some beautiful pink highlights. Lots of sculpting and highlighting.

What steps did you take to prep?
I prepped her skin with LA SOLUTION 10 DE CHANEL Sensitive Skin Cream, plus a little HYDRA BEAUTY NOURISHING LIP CARE Beauty Nourishing Lip Care on the lips.

How did you create her eye look?
We started with STYLO YEUX Long Lasting Waterproof Eyeliner in Noir Intense around the upper and lower waterlines. Then, I used PINCEAU LÈVRES BISEAUTÉ Angled Lip Brush to draw two very sharp lines of CHANEL CALLIGRAPHIE DE CHANEL Longwear Intense Cream Eyeliner in Hyperblack into the inner corners of the eye, plus a little under. I kind of created a double cat eye: pointed on the inside and outside.
I worked OMBRE PREMIÈRE Longwear Powder Eyeshadow in Visone underneath her occipital bone, then really groomed her amazing brows and set them with LE GEL SOURCILS Longwear Eyebrow Gel in Brun. I finished with one coat of INIMITABLE WATERPROOF Mascara in Noir only on the top lashes.

How did you complete the rest of her look?
I applied a mixture of VITALUMIÈRE AQUA Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Sunscreen Makeup SPF 15 in 30 Beige and 40 Beige to key parts of the face, then highlighted her cheekbones with SOLEIL TAN DE CHANEL Sheer Illuminating Fluid. I feathered LES BEIGES HEALTHY GLOW Sheer Colour SPF 15 in N°60 around the outside of her face and underneath her cheekbones, then followed with LE TEINT ULTRA TENUE Ultrawear Flawless Compact Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 15 Sunscreen through center of face to diffuse light.
Lily-Rose’s lip color for the night was ROUGE COCO Ultra Hydrating Lip Colour in Catherine, which she loves. It was actually her own!

Are there any tips for recreating an everyday version of this look?
The thing that made this cat eye different was that it peaked on both the inner and the outer corners. You’ve got to have some good pointed cotton tips to clean as you go. Also, when you’re doing an intense black eye look, do that before you apply any other makeup. And give your brows some attention, but don’t make them too bold.

What’s your favorite Chanel product for Lily-Rose, and why?
The hero tonight was CALLIGRAPHIE DE CHANEL Longwear Intense Cream Eyeliner in Hyperblack, but I really love the new eyeshadows. Especially because there are some great matte neutrals, and when you’re doing a pop of color with a graphic line, it’s good to have those essential sculpting colors in your back pocket.
