Collaboration of Esprit and Opening Ceremony inspired by ’90s nostalgia
After the successful debut collaboration late last year, Esprit and Opening Ceremony once again join forces for a second season on a new collection that channels Esprit’s original Cali spirit through a modern lens.
Opening Ceremony co-founder Humberto Leon had this to say of Matt Jones: “He helped us realize our vision by bringing on a cast who expresses the Esprit vibes of family and unity, values that Opening Ceremony has also embraced since our inception. Esprit and Opening Ceremony share an ethos, from our relationship with global youth culture to our insistence on diversity in fashion”
This time around the campaign features famous children like Coco Gordon Moore, the daughter of musicians Kim Gordon and Thurston Moore, and Arsun Sorrenti, the son of photographer Mario Sorrenti. Shot by Matt Jones, the campaign features pastel and stripe-heavy logo T-shirts, sweats, hats, and totes that are designed to resonate the Esprit mall looks of the ’80s and ’90s.
The collaboration is a harmonious mix of both brand’s aesthetics: The crewneck and hoodie sweatshirts, snapbacks, and T-shirts feel true to Esprit, but the bright patterns and colors reflect the modern Opening Ceremony vibe. Solid colors include baby pinks and blues, while the prints use bright red and blue hues. Menswear features the collection’s kaleidoscopic prints and bright stripes across buttoned shirts, tees, polos and drawstring shorts. Socks, bucket hats, totes, caps and fanny packs make up a broad accessories range. Plus, returning for the new season, the unisex logo sweats and tees drop in summer-ready pastel shades.
