GALIA LAHAV SS17 Haute Couture collection: travel in the British Victorian era

The SS17 Haute Couture collection by Galia Lahav, named “Victorian Affair” brings us back to the Victorian era, a period of optimism and national security.

The silhouettes are undeniably inspired by the fashion of that time with Victorian style dresses, modernized in the cuts and motifs to fit today’s fashionistas.

There are many references to the Belle Epoque: high collars, medallions, puffed sleeves, richly ornamented corsets and trains with exceptional length.

Galia Lahav also revisited the Victorian « tea gowns » by playing with transparent fabrics and pure lines.

The color palette is wide and offers a spectrum ranging from deep colors like black, with touches of gold and bronze, warm reds to pastels and softer ones with antique roses and smokey purples.

This collection is the result of a high-level know-how with hand-made dyes, and the use of original antique embroideries, made by Lesage and dating from the end of the 19th century.

A new feminity from the past…
