Facetasm FW17 / 18 collection: “Good Morning” to the diversity and tolerance

“Diversity”: this is the keyword to define Facetasm’s FW 17/18 collection. The creator Hiromichi Ochiai wants us to reflect on the essential notion of diversity beyond the races, religions … but more deeply to the diversity of identities that each of us possesses.

For this Japanese creator, the categorization of the world is a past affair. Originally from Tokyo he grew up in tolerance in a city freed of taboos and it is this acceptance of differences and those multicultural thoughts that he wanted to retranscribe in his collection.

The style is heavily inspired by this chaotic, sophisticated, fun and cool culture. This collection FW 17/18 deeply questions the meaning of the categorization of individuals, using mannequins of the three tones of skin: “pale pink, earthy and beige color”. It is a true ode to acceptance of oneself and differences … essential values that are always important to remember.

The looks of the collection play with the overlays, the silhouettes are like draped, wrapped, in a sometimes oriental spirit. The coats lined with wool give an almost Eskimo spirit for a true cultural mix. The style is mainly sportswear with pants and jackets in mind tracksuit, sneakers and quilted padded jackets.

Illustrating perfectly the notion of diversity, all the styles are mixed, the clothes are combined, the materials used are sometimes surprising as these pants seem to be cut in a waterproof down jacket. The floral and spring motifs are associated with underground pieces creating an interesting stylistic lag. The outfits are asymmetrical, a veritable explosion of styles and multiple influences.
