Paul Smith & Derek Ridgers exhibition    

In coincidenza della London Collections Men, Paul Smith e British Fashion Council celebrano l’anniversario dei 40 anni di punk ospitando la mostra fotografica di Derek Ridgers.

La boutique di Paul Smith al No. 9 in Albemarle Street ha ospitato ieri l’evento ufficiale del lancio della nona edizione della London Collections Men.

Ospiti del calibro di Dylan Jones, presidente di LCM e direttore di GQ Magazine, Caroline Rush e Sarah Mower del British Fashion Council e Suzy Menkes di Vogue sono stati accolti da Paul Smith in Mayfair, per partecipare alla mostra fotografica del celeberrimo studioso della cultura punk, Derek Ridgers.

Agli ospiti è stato servito champagne Perrier-Jouët accompagnato da un DJ set della famosa fondatrice del Radical People magazine, Reba Maybury, che ha deciso per l’occasione di suonare musica anni 70 indossando il look 36 della collezione P/E 16 di Paul Smith.‘Punk London 1977’ è il nuovo libro di Derek Ridgers, lavoro pubblicato da Carpet Bombing Culture il cui lancio coincide con l’inaugurazione dell’esibizione.

Le fotografie di Ridgers offrono una cruda e sincera visione del periodo punk degli anni 70. Le copie del libro saranno disponibili al No. 9 di Albemarle Street per l’intera durata della mostra al prezzo di £14.95.

In aggiunta, Derek ha collaborato con Paul Smith per creare una T-Shirt, che raffigura uno dei soggetti punk preferiti da Ridgers (foto sopra). L’edizione limitata di 150 magliette sarà disponibile in esclusiva su paulsmith.co.uk e nel negozio di Albemarle Street al prezzo di £80.

L’esibizione di Derek Ridgers, ‘Punk London 1977’ sarà aperta al No. 9 di Albemarle Street, Londra, W1S 4BL da venerdì 10 giugno a lunedì 13 giugno. La mostra è stata resa possibile grazie al supporto di Canon (UK) Ltd. Canon è uno dei principali innovatori a livello mondiale per quanto riguarda la qualità delle immagini e delle lenti.

Coinciding with the start of London Collections Men, Paul Smith and the British Fashion Council celebrated the 40th anniversary of punk by hosting an exhibition of photography by Derek Ridgers.

Paul Smith No. 9 Albemarle Street hosted the official launch event of the ninth edition of London Collections Men. Guests from across the industry including Dylan Jones, Editor-in-Chief of GQ Magazine, Caroline Rush and Sarah Mower of the British Fashion Council and Suzy Menkes of Vogue were welcomed to Paul Smith’s Mayfair outpost to view an exhibition of photography by the world’s preeminent documenter of punk culture, Derek Ridgers.

Guests drank Perrier-Jouët champagne and enjoyed a DJ set by the celebrated founder of Radical People magazine, Reba Maybury, who played a mixture of music from the era.

Reba chose to wear Paul Smith SS16 Look 36 brush stroke linen kaftan dress for the evening.

The exhibited photography is taken from ‘Punk London 1977’ a new book of Derek Ridgers’ work published by Carpet Bombing Culture and launching to coincide with the exhibition. Ridgers’ work offers a raw and honest account of the 70’s punk scene. Copies of the book will be available from No. 9 Albemarle Street for the duration of the event priced £14.95.

Additionally, Derek has teamed-up with Paul Smith to create a limited edition T-shirt featuring one of Derek’s original punk subjects (picture aboved). 150 t-shirts are available exclusively via paulsmith.co.uk and Paul Smith No. 9 Albemarle Street priced £80.
