Mira Mikati FW 2015 Collection    

Per questa collezione Mira Mikati ha preso ispirazione da New York e dall’artista Darcel e dal suo universo, popolato dal suo alter-ego Darcel Disappoints. “Le sue illustazioni si basano su piccole disavventure giornaliere newyorchesi” ha detto Mira Mikati. “Così ci sono elementi di street art e anche riferimenti ai fumetti nei capi. L’idea era di creare una collezione autunnale che avesse al suo interno la giocosa energia della primavera.”

La nuova linea è dipinta con colori iper saturi e energetici, arricchita da divertenti tocchi da fumetto e cartone animato. Il tradizionale cappotto di foggia maschile viene reimmaginato con slogan irriverenti e spassosi, come “Ridi!” oppure “Sveglia!”. Comode e confortevoli maglie a collo alto sono ricamate con personaggi fumettosi. Le classiche righe bretroni sono richiamate con un tocco di pittura dato da ampie pennellate sulle polo e sulle gonne al ginocchio.

Il suo stile tipico di attitudine tomboy e femminilità divertente si rivede nelle stampe pop oversize che ricoprono le maglie-vestito a maniche lunghe e i cappotti dal taglio maschile. Un completo fantasia scozzese e reimmaginato con fiori ricamati, petali tagliati col laser lasciano parti scoperte per vedere cosa c’è sotto al vestito.

La tecnica simile alla pittura della scorsa stagione viene recuperata per dare un tocco artigianale sulle giacche di pelle e sugli impermeabili, ecco il pensiero di Mikati “Beh dobbiamo trovare un motivo che ci faccia amare la pioggia no?”. Ogni look è arricchito da un tocco da skater accentuato da toppe e ricami.

La giacca-bomber, da sempre un capo chiave del brand, questa stagione acquista una nuova identità con l’aiuto di Darcel stesso, che ha lavorato con Mikati per creare l’iconografia irresistibile del capo.

This season Mira Mikati drew inspiration from New York, the world of artist Darcel, and his comic alter ego Darcel Disappoints. “His illustrations are based on daily misadventures in New York,” says Mikati. “So there are elements of street art as well as comic book motifs in the clothes. The idea was to design fall with the playful energy of spring.”

The new collection is painted with those saturated optimistic colors, and peppered with charming cartoonish touches. The traditional menswear-inspired winter coat is reimagined with irreverent and affirmative slogans, like “Laugh” and “Wake Up!” And cozy knit turtleneck sweaters come embroidered with a cast of illustrated characters. The classic Breton stripe, on the other hand, is given a painterly makeover with bold brushstrokes on polo shirts and billowing knee-length skirts.

Her signature combination of tomboysmarts and girlish charms also comes through in theoversize pop art floral print that covers long sleeved t-shirt dresses and mannish overcoats alike. One standout Prince of Wales check suit in the collection is replete with embroidered flowers, and laser cut petals leave subtle windows onto what lies underneath.

The hand-painted technique of last season is used for artisanal effect on leather jackets and raincoats for fall, because as Mikati puts it, “We all need a chic reason to look forward to the rain.” And of course each look here is grounded with a cool skater slide, which this time around, is covered with tongue-in-cheek patches.

The bomber jacket has become a staple for the label, and this season it gains a new identity with the help of Darcel himself, who worked with Mikati on the eye-catching iconography on the piece.
