Protagonist FW 2015 at NYFW     

La Collection No. 5 esplora la transizione fra ruvido a morbido, tra rozzo a rifinito, dalla natura alla cultura. Ispirata sia dall’Arte Povera (il movimento artistico italiano) e la naturale geometria del deserto dello Utah, i pezzi sono uniti da una fluida precisione che esalta anziché nascondere il processo di creazione e realizzazione.

I materiali vanno dalla lana a double face e tessuti più tecnici a jersey di cashmere e cotone sono mescolati da materiali che diventano più belli con l’indosso come la pelle e il denim. La palette ha le sue basi nel bianco e nel nero a cui si aggiungono tinte più calde e di terra, non mancano stampe importanti che rivelano un approccio alla costruzione dei capi che si ispirano al paesaggio.

La collezione è stata presentata in un setting sospeso fra pubblico e privato, riferimenti all’Arte Povera, alla casa, confluiscono nella creazione di un ambiente che è un work-in-progress fatto di cornici, stipiti, porte e finestre. L’atmosfera è riscaldata e connessa con la presenza umana attraverso mobili e accessori per la casa che sono un mix dei migliori pezzi vintage italiani, francesi e americani che rappresentano al contempo incredibile qualità manufatturiere e innovazioni tecniche.

Collection No. 5 explores the transitions of rough to smooth, raw to polished, nature to culture. Inspired by both Arte Povera, the Italian art movement that sought to achieve a poetic statement with the simplest of means, and the natural geometry of the Utah desert, the pieces are united by a fluid precision that elevates rather than conceals the process of their making.

Materials ranging from double-faced wool and sleek suiting fabrics to cashmere jersey and crisp cotton shirting are joined by those that show evidence of wear, including leather and denim. Grounded in black and white, the color palette is accented by earthy and heathered hues, while a bold print reveals a landscape-based approach to panel construction.

The collection is presented in a setting suspended between the realms of public and private. Arte Povera references to domesticity and habitat informed the creation of an architectural work-in-progress—a framing wall, a found door—within the raw industrial space, which is warmed by the rich scent of leather.

This scene is further connected to human scale through furnishings placed to evoke, at turns, chance and necessity. Selected for their purity of form and material, these vintage pieces are a mix of Italian, French, and American designs that represent both exquisite craftsmanship and technical innovation.
