CHANEL opens a new chapter in beauty with the appointment of Lucia Pieroni as Creative Makeup Director. Having joined the House in September 2026, she will work alongside the Makeup Creation Studio, reporting to Simona Cattaneo, President of Fragrance & Beauty.
The appointment strengthens an existing creative dialogue: Pieroni has collaborated with Matthieu Blazy since his first collection as CHANEL’s Fashion Artistic Director, presented in October 2025. From that debut runway show, she has created beauty looks aligned with his artistic vision, helping to translate his creative language through makeup.
“It is a great honour to have been chosen by CHANEL,” said Pieroni, expressing her enthusiasm for the opportunity to share her artistic vision with the team at a particularly inspiring moment in the House’s journey.
An emphasis on individuality lies at the heart of her approach. Simona Cattaneo highlights Pieroni’s ability to recognise the uniqueness of each face and enhance it through intuitive, expressive makeup. Combining artistic vision with savoir-faire, this sensitivity will, in the words of the President of Fragrance & Beauty, help shape a new chapter for CHANEL Makeup.
Pieroni’s training as a painter has influenced her work from the outset. After beginning her career in London, she moved to New York in 1995, where she worked with avant-garde contemporary artists and leading fashion and beauty photographers. From 2006 to 2019, she served as Creative Director of Makeup at Clé de Peau Beauté, part of the Shiseido Group, refining her holistic approach to beauty. Collaborations with photographers and designers have also seen her contribute to the visual identity of numerous runway shows, campaigns and editorials.
Alain Wertheimer, Global Executive Chairman, and Leena Nair, Global CEO of CHANEL, recognise Pieroni as a leading figure in international makeup artistry. Her experience and artistic intuition will help guide the evolution of the House’s beauty language.
