To mark the 250th anniversary of the Independence of the United States, CORUM pays tribute to American history by reinterpreting one of its most iconic creations: the Coin Watch. The result is the Heritage Coin Collection, a special series that brings together Swiss fine watchmaking, historical memory, and a true collector’s spirit.

The collection consists of 50 creations, one for each American state, produced in only 5 numbered pieces per model, for a total of 250 watches. Each piece tells the story of a territory, a symbol, or a fragment of American identity, transforming the timepiece into a small emotional map of the United States.

The Coin Watch has held a special place in CORUM’s history since 1964, the year it was first introduced. Its distinctive character stems from a bold idea: transforming a real coin into a watch. The original model was crafted from the celebrated Double Eagle, the 22-carat American 20-dollar gold coin, which over time became one of the most sought-after objects among collectors.

The production process, still deeply artisanal today, involves cutting the coin along its edge: one half becomes the dial, protected by a sapphire crystal, while the other forms the case back.

Over the decades, the Coin Watch has also crossed paths with American political and cultural history. Richard Nixon was presented with one of these pieces by CORUM, while Ronald Reagan appeared on the cover of TIME Magazine in 1981 wearing one on his wrist. Henry Kissinger also counts among its most distinguished admirers. These episodes testify to the deep bond between this watch and the American imagination: discreet, authoritative, elegant.

For 2026, CORUM opens a new chapter. The common front side of all 50 creations pays tribute to the American eagle with the inscription “250 Years of Independence.” The reverse, however, changes for each state, featuring landscapes, regional symbols, historical references, or traditions deeply rooted in collective memory.

The Coin is far more than a CORUM watch: it is the reflection of more than sixty years of history and of a deep bond with America,” said Haso Mehmedovic, Chairman & CEO of CORUM. “Celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States felt natural to us. We wanted to create something unique, in which each piece tells a different story.”

The CORUM Heritage Coin Collection will be available from July 4, 2026, exclusively on the official CORUM website.
