Chanel is opening a new chapter in its jewelry universe with the appointment of Marie-Laure Cérède as Director of the Jewelry Creation Studio. She will join the House in October 2026 and will oversee the creation of both Precious Jewelry and High Jewelry collections, working closely with Chanel’s teams in Paris and Geneva.
In her new role, Cérède will report to Frédéric Grangié, President of Watches & Fine Jewelry, bringing with her a career shaped by some of the most influential names in contemporary high jewelry.

Her appointment marks a significant moment for Chanel’s jewelry division, a universe built on some of the House’s most enduring codes: the sharp elegance of black and white, the brilliance of diamonds, the symbolic power of the lion, the camellia, the comet and the graphic legacy of Gabrielle Chanel.
Frédéric Grangié welcomed Cérède’s arrival by highlighting her ability to balance heritage, emotion, audacity and restraint , qualities that, he noted, will bring a new perspective to the Chanel codes that define the House’s creations. Her imagination, craftsmanship expertise and deep knowledge of gemology are expected to guide Chanel’s jewelry into compelling new directions.
Alain Wertheimer, Global Executive Chairman, and Leena Nair, Global CEO of Chanel, described Cérède as “one of the most talented, refined, and accomplished Creative Directors of her generation,” underlining how her vision, creative ingenuity and leadership will help shape the next chapter of Chanel’s jewelry story.
Cérède began her career at Cartier before joining Harry Winston, where she took over the artistic direction of jewelry and watchmaking. In 2016, she returned to Cartier as Creative Director of Jewelry and Watchmaking, a position she held for almost a decade.
Raised in Libreville, Gabon, Cérède developed an early sensitivity to nature, colour and the cultures of the world , influences that have shaped her lifelong admiration for decorative arts, craftsmanship and the expressive potential of precious materials. A graduate of ESCP Europe, she arrives at Chanel with a profile that combines jewelry culture, creative discipline and a sophisticated understanding of contemporary luxury.
More than a new appointment, her arrival signals the beginning of a fresh creative phase for Chanel High Jewelry: one in which the House’s heritage may be reinterpreted through a vision that is at once cultured, sensitive and unmistakably modern.
