LOEWE has announced the winner of the ninth edition of the LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize: Jongjin Park, a ceramic artist born in 1982 in the Republic of Korea, has been awarded for his 2025 work Strata of Illusion.
The piece, a seat-like form, is made from thousands of layered sheets of paper coated with coloured porcelain slip. During firing, the paper burns away and disappears, while the structure deforms under the effects of heat and gravity. The jury recognised in the work a rare ability to challenge expectations of ceramics, transforming a technical process into a poetic and conceptual gesture.

Park receives a prize of €50,000. The jury also awarded two special mentions, each worth €5,000, to Baba Tree Master Weavers × Álvaro Catalán de Ocón for Frafra Tapestry and to Graziano Visintin for Collier.
The thirty finalist works will be exhibited at National Gallery Singapore from 13 May to 14 June 2026. The selection was chosen from more than 5,100 submissions by artists from 133 countries and regions, confirming the prize’s role as an international platform for contemporary craft.
