For Salone del Mobile 2026, Tod’s introduces “Icons by Icons,” a special project celebrating the Gommino through the lens of 20th-century Italian design. A symbol of refined Italian lifestyle and craftsmanship, the Gommino is reimagined through four collectible interpretations inspired by some of the most influential names in Italian design.
The project draws on the visual language of four iconic works: Joe Colombo’s Elda armchair, Gaetano Pesce’s Crosby chair, Michele De Lucchi’s Kristall table for Memphis Milano, and the Brionvega RR226 Radiofonografo by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni. Each piece inspires a new interpretation of the Gommino, bringing together creativity, style and artisanal tradition.
The project will be presented on April 21, 2026, at Tod’s spaces on Via Savona 56 in Milan, with an opening event during Milan Design Week. The exhibition will place the original design pieces in dialogue with their corresponding Gommino reinterpretations.
During the event, Tod’s artisans will offer a live demonstration of key stages in the making of the Gommino, including its signature hand-stitching, a hallmark of the brand’s craftsmanship. The installation will remain open to the public by registration until the following Sunday.
