European dermocosmetics is increasingly looking to Brussels as one of its most dynamic innovation hubs. On the occasion of Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna, hub.brussels – the economic development agency of the Brussels-Capital Region – presented a selection of emerging brands representing the new frontier of skincare: sustainable, technologically advanced, and inclusive.
In a European cosmetics market valued at around €88 billion in 2024, Belgium stands out for its vitality and capacity for innovation. With approximately 400 active producers, the country holds a significant position in both consumption and exports, while the Brussels district distinguishes itself through the use of biotechnology and the adoption of upcycling processes, which are becoming increasingly central to reducing environmental impact.
Natural ingredients and sustainable supply chains

Among the brands showcased, Habeebee focuses on natural cosmetics based on propolis and beeswax, sourced from the hives of a network of beekeepers committed to organic and sustainable practices. The brand is expanding its offering with a liquid cleansing line and continues to highlight its hero product, a multifunctional treatment that combines hydration with antioxidant protection.
Herbal tradition meets scientific innovation

Lunear takes a hybrid approach, where tradition meets advanced research. At the core of its range is a complex based on Korean ginseng enriched with dermocosmetic actives such as retinol and peptides. The result is a line designed to regenerate the skin and improve tone and radiance, without compromising tolerability.
Biotechnology and circular economy

Innovation is also central to Marmi, which works with cellular extracts derived from algae through advanced biotechnological processes. The company complements this research with upcycling, transforming plant-based raw materials into high-value cosmetic ingredients. Its formulations, designed for sensitive skin, combine efficacy and sustainability, as demonstrated by an award-winning cream.
Inclusivity as the new beauty frontier

Closing the selection, NOIRE by Sonia stands out for its clear positioning: addressing the needs of melanin-rich skin, often overlooked by the cosmetics industry. The brand develops targeted products for concerns such as hyperpigmentation and dehydration, using natural and organic ingredients suitable even during delicate life stages.
A bridge between Brussels and the Italian market
Participation in Cosmoprof represents a strategic step in strengthening the relationship between Brussels and Italy, already supported by successful past collaborations. Some brands introduced to the Italian market in previous years are now well-established, confirming the strength of this ecosystem.
The takeaway is clear: Brussels is no longer just a political and economic hub, but also a creative and scientific center capable of driving change in the beauty industry. A transformation rooted in sustainability, research, and inclusivity—set to redefine the standards of European skincare.
