At La Verrière, the exhibition space of the Fondation d’entreprise Hermès, Extrazimmer, the new exhibition by Caroline Achaintre, curated by Joël Riff, will run from April 23 to July 4, 2026.

The title—German for “extra room”—immediately evokes a space of freedom and possibility. Both mental and physical, it becomes a place where the artist unfolds a layered visual universe infused with humor, craftsmanship, and imagination.

At the heart of the exhibition stands Gobbler, a monumental tapestry created for Art Basel Unlimited 2025. This large-scale textile work is presented alongside a series of tufted pieces, where threads inserted into fabric create vibrant surfaces. The result is a series of hybrid creatures, blending carnival masks, anthropomorphic figures, and science-fiction imagery.

Alongside these textiles, Achaintre presents ceramics and mixed-media works, shaping an immersive environment in which each element contributes to a cohesive yet open-ended visual narrative.
