Pure lines, a strong character, timeless attitude: the J12 by CHANEL is not simply a watch, but an icon of contemporary style that continues to redefine the language of luxury.
It is this breadth, balance and singularity that define the new J12 campaign, expressed through the intrinsic values embodied by Gisele Bündchen and Clément Chabernaud.
A new campaign to celebrate the sensory icon that has shaped the world of watchmaking for more than a quarter of a century.
Born in 2000 from the vision of Jacques Helleu, then Artistic Director of the House, the J12 draws inspiration from the nautical world and the lines of racing yachts, symbols of precision, speed, and a spirit of adventure. Its very name references the J-Class of sailing boats, evoking an imagery of ocean challenges and infinite horizons.

The real revolution was not only stylistic but material. CHANEL chose ceramic — seven times more resistant than steel, almost impossible to scratch, and surprisingly silky to the touch — transforming it into a signature element of the House’s watchmaking. Heated to over 1,300°C to achieve its ultimate strength, this high-tech material reveals an irresistible duality: strength and softness.
Genderless, timeless, fearless
Originally designed by a man for himself, the J12 immediately won over a female audience as well, becoming today a perfectly unisex icon and the embodiment of a confident, free-spirited personality. Its secret? Pure lines, magnetic monochrome — from absolute black to luminous white and more recent blue variations — and an aesthetic that transcends seasons, just like the great creations of fashion.

Arnaud Chastaingt, Director of the CHANEL Watchmaking Creation Studio, sums up the myth of the J12:
“J12 was born from an act of radical creation. Without compromise or permission, it took hold like a revolution, challenging the traditional codes of watchmaking. This unbridled creation literally changed my perception of watches and was an inspiration to me. So much more than an icon, J12 is a manifesto of emancipation and audacity: it’s resistant to everything.”
A SENSE OF PROPORTION
The sapphire crystal case back of the J12 wholeheartedly reveals the Calibre 12.1, rendering the invisible visible. And for CHANEL, the reverse side must be as beautiful as the front. Designed by Arnaud Chastaingt, Director of the Watch Creation Studio, its circular rotor, specifically crafted by the House, turns slowly like an observatory clock. The openwork oscillating weight reveals the lively gear mechanism and forms a perfect circle, a unique feature that expresses the CHANEL obsession with balanced proportions and the discreet power of lines. Here, proportions are everything. Just a few millimetres thick and no fewer than 191 components, meticulously positioned and assembled with extreme care. Finally, spelled out in the metal, is an instantly recognisable signature.

What the eye cannot see is the exceptional performance of the Calibre 12.1 — a self-winding movement assembled at the Kenissi Manufacture, co-owned by CHANEL. A true mark of excellence, it is designed to withstand every test and has established itself as an absolute benchmark in watchmaking thanks to its outstanding efficiency. Chronometer-certified by the COSC (Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute), the Calibre 12.1 offers a 70-hour power reserve, well above traditional standards.

Its true masterpiece, however, lies in the remarkable smoothness with which it delivers the seconds: naturally capturing the wearer’s energy and releasing it with extreme delicacy. On the dial, the hands glide with steady, harmonious precision. The Calibre 12.1 is not merely a high-end movement, but a true engine of time, proving its reliability day after day.
