Louis Moinet unveils SPEED OF SOUND, a new high-watchmaking creation issued in three ultra-limited editions of just three pieces each, reinterpreting the historic Valjoux 88 calibre from the 1940s with a contemporary aesthetic and artisanal expertise. The timepiece blends tradition and innovation through refined guilloché dials in bold colours, meteorite inserts, and a redesigned moon-phase display featuring a genuine fragment of the lunar meteorite Dhofar 457, symbolically marking the full moon.
Housed in a lightweight titanium case and distinguished by hand-engraved details visible through the caseback, the watch also introduces an unusual chronograph scale capable of measuring the speed of sound by timing the interval between a flash of lightning and the sound of thunder, underscoring the brand’s signature fusion of poetic concept, technical ingenuity, and collectible rarity.
