With the new Freak S Enamel, Ulysse Nardin once again redefines the limits of mechanical art. The Maison’s most complex time-only watch now embraces the ancestral craft of enamelling, presented for the first time in two mesmerizing hues — vibrant turquoise blue and deep ruby red.
Born from the spirit of invention that has driven Ulysse Nardin since 1846, the Freak has always embodied rebellion and creativity. When it debuted in 2001, it shattered conventions — a watch without dial, crown, or hands, animated solely by its movement. Today, that legacy continues with the Freak S, a marvel of engineering and design that unites cutting-edge silicon technology with hand-crafted artistry.

At its heart beats the Manufacture calibre UN-251, an intricate mechanism of six gear planes, two inclined silicon balance wheels, and the world’s smallest mechanical differential — a technical symphony where 95% of components are in motion. The patented Grinder® system ensures extraordinary energy efficiency, while a titanium case keeps the watch both robust and remarkably light.
The new enamel editions elevate this mechanical sculpture to a new dimension of beauty. At Donzé Cadrans, Ulysse Nardin’s in-house enamel atelier, master artisans craft the rotating guilloché-flinqué hour disc by hand, firing layer upon layer of enamel at 800°C to achieve unmatched depth and brilliance. The result is a hypnotic play of color and motion — a dialogue between high technology and high artistry.

Limited to just 50 pieces per color, the Freak S Enamel stands as both a celebration of watchmaking innovation and a tribute to human craftsmanship — a reminder that progress in horology often lies where science meets art.
