ISSEY MIYAKE’s Spring/Summer 2026 collection explores the concept of clothing as conscious entities. Titled “Being Garments, Being Sentient,” the collection breaks with fashion conventions, drawing inspiration from the unexpected and absence to propose a new vision of dressing, in which clothing takes on an active, almost sentient role in its relationship with the body. It poses a provocative question: “What if clothes were living beings with their own consciousness?”
GENERIC WEAR imagines garments free to transform and grow, as if shedding their skin. The idea of evolution takes shape through familiar garments like T-shirts and sweatshirts, where the contrast between the known and the mutable highlights the surprisingly dynamic nature of the silhouette.
The ARMS series plays with the dislocation of sleeves, creating a visual dissonance that reorganizes the garment’s traditional forms. The jackets, which can be worn in different ways, offer freedom of expression and invite a new approach to dressing.
PEU FORM3 translates the aesthetic of its collaboration with Camper into clothing with fluid, deconstructed shapes. The garments, resembling living organisms, envelop the body like a single synthetic skin, merging footwear and clothing in an organic, anti-sartorial vision.
A SHOPPER’S BODY is a reflection on the excess of consumerism, where the body becomes a container. The garment, crafted from fine jersey like a second skin, incorporates objects and large pockets in unexpected places, altering the natural silhouette and imposing new contours.
PALINDROME reinterprets the concept of “right” and “wrong” sides, allowing garments to be worn both ways. The lining becomes a shirt, decorated with ISSEY MIYAKE logos, creating visual layering effects and surprising inversions of perspective.
Conceal to Reveal explores the relationship between the body and empty space, using a tubular fabric to envelop and sculpt new forms. The focus shifts from the garment to the volume it generates, transforming the void into the protagonist.
URBAN JUNGLE JERSEY draws inspiration from palm trees that grow in urban spaces, a symbol of resilience and vitality. Photographs of these plants become prints on the garments, which thus seem to “wear” nature. The pleated fabric, soft yet structured, recalls the shape and texture of leaves, evoking the energy of the urban jungle.
ADVENTITIOUS draws inspiration from the free growth of plants, reimagining traditional clothing with sleeves, collars, and vents positioned unconventionally on a tubular knit. This versatile design allows for multiple ways to wear the garment, fostering freedom and expressiveness in the relationship between body and clothing.
CAMPER × ISSEY MIYAKE presents Karst Finch, the first sneaker from this collaboration. Karst Finch explores a common theme: playfulness. This is manifested not only in the design but also in the color combinations inspired by the plumage of different finch species. Karst Finch conveys a sense of freedom—walking without constraints—thanks to its comfortable fit, lightness, and durability. It comes with two pairs of socks: one matching the shoe and the other in a contrasting color, allowing the wearer to personalize their style.
