Let Them Be Naked, the critically acclaimed documentary by sustainable fashion designer Jeff Garner, will stream globally for the first time this Mother’s Day weekend, May 8–11, at www.letthembenaked.com. Executive produced and funded by environmental leader and Inside Out LLC Founder & CEO Suzy Amis Cameron, the limited release is presented by Earth Conscious Life and Inside Out LLC as a tribute to Garner’s mother, Peggy Lynn Garner, who died of breast cancer linked to chemical exposure from clothing.
Suzy Amis Cameron, known for her pioneering work across food, fashion, education, and climate advocacy, brought the film to life through Inside Out LLC and IO Media — her impact holding company building bold solutions to urgent global challenges and its thought-provoking media vertical. Let Them Be Naked aligns with her mission to expose harmful practices and ignite meaningful change, beginning with what we wear.
“The fashion industry is not just polluting the planet—it’s quietly harming our bodies,” said Garner. “This film is my way of honoring my mother’s memory and awakening people to what they deserve to know.”
The film follows Garner’s global investigation into the health impacts of toxic fashion, sparked by his mother’s illness and passing. Grounded in leading scientific research, the documentary reveals that up to 37% of textile chemicals can be absorbed through the skin—with absorption rates increasing through sweat and friction. One study cited in the film found that Benzothiazole, a common chemical in clothing, can penetrate the skin and enter the bloodstream.
I decided to release the film on Mothers Day as a gift to all the moms that do not know what lies in their clothing. My mom made all my clothes as a boy, and I am aware the buying choices of the family typically reside with the mothers. It is important to know what to clothe your child in as I have lost a child of mine own as well. Everyone deserves to know the makeup of the clothing they put on their skin and loved ones. I am fighting for truth and disclosure, as no mother should suffer from the unknown carcinogenic toxins found in their bra or underwear. We need to create a real and lasting change. This is the time…this is the charge…we do not want to look back and think what we could have done…but to move forward together as one to demand clean clothing for our future generations. – Jeff Garner
The film’s release comes on the heels of the United Nations’ International Day of Zero Waste, which spotlighted fashion’s environmental toll and called for urgent action: “Unless we accelerate change, dressing to kill could kill the planet.” As well as, a first of its kind UK Parliament bill presented in December 2024 which the documentary helped shape and add the addendum to protect consumers from toxins in clothing calling for labelling.
Let Them Be Naked not only uncovers these hidden dangers but offers a path forward—featuring innovators, scientists, and advocates reshaping the industry for good. Interviewees include actor Gerard Butler, Matteo Ward (CEO, Inside Out Fashion, Textiles & Home), Hippocrates Institute Co-Director Dr. Brian Clement, Dressed to Kill author Sydney Ross Singer, and former British Fashion Council Chair Harold Tillman.
This special Mother’s Day screening is both a memorial and a movement, urging global audiences to reconsider the clothes they wear—and the industry behind them.
