This June, Prada will present the twelfth edition of Prada Mode together with Inujima Project in Osaka: two interconnected events created in collaboration with Kazuyo Sejima, director of Kazuyo Sejima & Associates and co-founder of SANAA, who will curate Prada Mode for the second time, showcasing her vision for the Japanese island of Inujima. Prada Mode Osaka, the latest in Prada’s series of events dedicated to contemporary culture, will be held in the city of Osaka and will feature an exhibition of Sejima’s projects for the transformation of Inujima. Inujima Project will precede Prada Mode Osaka with a multi-day preview that will take place directly on the island.

In 2008, the Fukutake Foundation, which manages the Benesse Art Site in Naoshima, invited Sejima to reimagine and shape the urban landscape of Inujima. The architect will share this work in progress through models, videos and other materials at Prada Mode Osaka, in an exhibition that will be held in a pavilion designed by SANAA and located in the city’s Umekita Park. In the days leading up to the event, Inujima Project will offer a private preview to present the history of Inujima, Sejima’s projects over the past 17 years and her vision for the future of the area. For Inujima Project, Prada and Sejima will unveil a permanent pavilion at Inujima Life Garden, designed by the architect and donated to the island by Prada.

“On Inujima, a tiny island rich in nature, visitors will be able to immerse themselves in the Symbiosis project: a landscape that combines history, architecture, art and everyday life. In Osaka, a city historically linked to Inujima, this experience will be shared and expanded to reach a wider audience. In this edition of Prada Mode, Symbiosis will take shape through conversations and discoveries, creating a new landscape that continues to grow thanks to everyone’s participation,” explains Kazuyo Sejima.

Prada Mode Osaka will host conversations and workshops curated by Sejima to delve deeper into the history of the exhibition. Inujima Project, which will run from June 4 to 6, will include a tour of the island and a musical and artistic program in historic buildings and spaces, again under the artistic direction of Sejima. The event will be followed by Prada Mode Osaka, which will begin on June 7 with entrance reserved for club members and will be open to the public from June 8 to 15.
