We want to imagine him among the stars that he managed to kidnap for a moment in the brilliance of his creations. Patrice Leguéreau, who passed away at just 53 years old, creative director of Chanel jewelry, was a humble person in the words of those who had the privilege of collaborating with him. And the Humble as Saint Augustine teaches will be remembered over time.
Today, leafing through his drawings in the book dedicated to the 1932 collection or looking back at the stroke of genius in making the Lion of San Marco even more roaring among the golds of the firmament, there is great melancholy in having to “Remember” him.
Hoping that his Stardust continues to inspire his fantastic creative team.
Patrice joined CHANEL in February 2009. Driven by an extraordinary passion and energy, he never ceased to pay homage to Gabrielle Chanel’s visionary imprint: he revisited icons such as the Comet, the Camellia, the Wheat, the Matelassé and the Pearls in Jewelry and High Jewelry, and brought the Lion, Mademoiselle Chanel’s astrological sign, into the stylistic grammar of CHANEL High Jewelry.
In this way, he has promoted the uniqueness and excellence of CHANEL Jewelry and High Jewelry through the creation of 26 High Jewelry collections and emblematic Jewelry lines such as COCO CRUSH in 2015. Patrice’s exceptional talent and insatiable thirst to push the boundaries of creation have led him to open new chapters in the history of CHANEL High Jewelry.
This included the iconic 55.55 necklace in 2021, with a design that embodies all the codes of the N°5 perfume bottle, and which is composed of more than 700 diamonds arranged around a central diamond, specially cut to weigh 55.55 carats.
