The luxury boutique hotel GRACE LA MARGNA brings a historic hospitality venue back to life to offer a new and original luxury proposition in St. Moritz. Nestled in the picturesque nature of the Engadine, the boutique hotel harmoniously blends modern luxury and glamour, history and future.
The GRACE LA MARGNA is one of the symbols of the town, not only for its prestigious location and panoramic view of the Lake in St. Moritz, but also for its elegance and traditional charm.
The hotel was born from the ambitious project of restoring a unique historic building, to which was added the creation of a new adjacent building, with the aim of meeting the needs of a diverse and cosmopolitan public. London-based Divercity Architects and interior designer Carole Topin were commissioned to conceive this project, with a mission to design environments that are both classic and innovative.
La Margna building was built in the early 20th century in the Art Nouveau style characteristic of the Engadine. The hotel combines the glamorous past of St. Moritz, with the needs of a modern, cosmopolitan society, blending tradition and modernity. The selection of furnishings, made by general manager David Frei, predominantly by iconic furniture brand Molteni&C, fits perfectly into the rooms, respecting the vision and aesthetics of the restoration project.
GRACE LA MARGNA skillfully blends the link between tradition and contemporary style, offering environments characterized by warm atmospheres and a classic touch, in a project where Molteni&C reflects the pure essence of Italian design.
Signed by Molteni&C are the fixed and loose custom-made furniture in different public areas of the hotel such as reception, LIVINGROOM, N/5 – THE BAR and cigar lounge. In addition to the custom-made furniture that Molteni&C masterfully provides, the hotel houses some of the most iconic pieces from the collections. In the reception area, hotel guests are greeted by the Lido sofa, with its balanced and classic forms, designed by Hannes Wettstein, the Hubert coffee table by Vincent Van Duysen, the Alisee coffee table by Matteo Nunziati, the Scriba writing desk designed by Patricia Urquiola, and the Chelsea chairs by Rodolfo Dordoni, in which master craftsmanship values are expressed by the processing of the highest quality raw materials, which guarantee the appeal to these extremely versatile pieces.
The Lucas and Lido sofa, the Chelsea and Sutton armchairs by Rodolfo Dordoni, and the Margou armchair, designed by Creative Director Vincent Van Duysen, enrich the bar and lobby area, along with the Domino Next pouf and 505 UP Sideboard by Nicola Gallizia, the Alisee coffee table, and the Ava bookcase by Foster + Partners.
The cigar lounge features the D.151.4 armchair, designed by Gio Ponti and part of Molteni&C’s Heritage Collection. The Gio Ponti collection, which Molteni&C dedicates to the great designer, was created in 2012 in collaboration with the Gio Ponti Archives and Ponti’s heirs under the artistic direction of Studio Cerri & Associati, and is part of the Molteni&C Heritage Collection: a collection that brings out traces of a past that turns out to be contemporary, to be re-proposed today.
