Breaking news: Hedi Slimane is the new creative director of Céline


Hedi Slimane is one of the most iconoclastic characters in modern fashion. Before two years designer have worked for Saint Laurent and now he is replacing Phoebe Philo. According to BoF, Slimane will “expand the LVMH-owned label’s offering into menswear, couture and fragrance.” His first Céline catwalk show will be for Spring 2019 and presented in Paris in September.

Hedi Slimane also worked at Dior Homme, (from 2000 till 2007), he introduced a super-skinny silhouette which radically changed how men wanted to look and dress and skinny jeans became a uniform for a new generation. He assured critical and financial success before launching his own men’s and women’s wear labels, while pursuing photography work. Later designer rebranded YSL by removing Yves and named as Saint Laurent.

Designer proved his talents and insights.  In less than four years at Saint Laurent, Hedi Slimane oversaw an almost threefold rise in profits as he transformed a heritage label into a worldwide bestseller – in his first three years annual sales revenue raised till $787 million dollars.
