Tell Me About You / Polimoda Fashion Show 2017

At the #92 edition of Pitti Immagine Uomo, Polimoda presents to the fashion world 19 young emerging talents with the Tell Me About You show/Polimoda Fashion Show 2017. The best menswear and womenswear collections of the last year’s course students Undergraduate in Fashion Design. The event celebrates the completion of a four-year study tour and is the official presentation of young designers to a select fashion-insider audience, including journalists, companies and industry professionals.

A panel composed of some of the most influential names of international fashion is called to judge the collections and decree The Best Collection for 2017. In the jury Christiane Arp (Editor-in-Chief, Vogue Germany), Simone Cipriani (Head and Founder, Ethical Fashion Initiative ), Fabrizio Fabbro (Senior Vice President of Creative Operations, Burberry), David Fischer (Founder and CEO, Highsnobiety), Simonetta Gianfelici (Fashion Consultant and Talent Scout), Sara Kozlowski (Director of Education & Professional Development, CFDA), Hirofumi Kurino (Co-Founder & Senior Adviser for Creative Direction, United Arrows), Linda Loppa (Advisor for Strategy and Vision, Polimoda), Michel Maffesoli (Sociologist and Emeritus Professor, La Sorbonne), Sara Maino (Senior Editor, Vogue Italia and Head of Vogue Talents), Kanya Miki (Associate Professor of the Faculty of Fashion Science, Bunka Fashion College), Diane Pernet (Founder, ASVOFF), Gioconda Rafanelli and August Kaciuruba (Photographers and Found (Director of International Affairs, Japanese Fashion Week), Riccardo Vannetti (Tutorship Director), Etienne Russo (Founder, Villa Eugénie), Francois Schweitzer (General Manager and Head of Business Development, Chalhoub Group Retail) , Pitti Immagine) and Danilo Venturi (Director, Polimoda).

For the occasion, Villa Favard, the headquarters of the institute in the heart of Florence, is presented in a completely new style, with its nineteenth-century rooms reinterpreted in lights, contrasts and video projections, directed by the world-famous casting director Piergiorgio Del Moro and the sound design curated by Kim Ann Foxman, eclectic underground electronics artist, who became a style icon after the planetary success with Hercules and Love Affair.

Students Claudia Genco, Yunjin Cho, Sofia Mollberg, Shania Matthews, Federico China, Xi Luo, Fabio Bigondi, Elizaveta Burtseva, Ilaria Tosti, Daisy Ramer, Margherita Banti, Mirco Arena, Olga Vasyukova, Maximilian Ruelas, Miranda Hochkoeppler, Lai Shu Lin , Max Anish Gowriah, Ning Yang, and Peirong Jiang present a collection of eight outfits, the ultimate synthesis of a mature creative maturity that enshrines the transition from design to designers and the first real entry into the fashion world.

Tell Me About You is the thread that links collections: a strong need for expression of an identity, unconnected with gender stereotypes, geographic origin, or social belonging, fused as an exoskeleton with the personality of the wearer. Fashion as the manifestation of the ego, a story of a personal and subjective story that relates to each other, revealing itself and at the same time opening up to a dialogue with the interlocutor.
