The sound of silence of Mei Kawa
The autumn-winter 2016 MEI KAWA collection creates a visual dynamic with a built environment  again as it makes its debut between the walls of a special Hungarian cultural legacy. The eclectic interior of the former Hungarian Radio Building is in perfect match with the clothes as they draw
inspiration of the Hungarian art deco and the golden era of Socialism. The studio room featured in the campaign is shaped by the character of sound, which results in  playful geometry. The thorny sound-proof panels and the padded walls are highly functional yet  quirky elements which harmonize with the clothes. The MEI KAWA garments are characterized by  sharp lines and sartorial discipline however always packed with witty details. Deep openings and  emblematic cut-outs are frequently used design solutions on MEI KAWA pieces which are further  developed with the ultrafeminine, jewellery-like slits on the neck of the clothes.
The colour palette is centered around a deep blue hue with the domination of monochrome surfaces. However the feminine lines, that are present in a larger scale than ever, bring icy pistachio and warm olive green tones to the collection. Considering the cold weather conditions there are giant adjustable collars and dense, thermal materials like the elephants skin effect viscose and the pistachio wool.
The campaign and lookbook photo series are the work of Peter Hencz who is a permanent  collaborator for the brand.
