Color Contrast by Gauchere ss17

The Spring/ Summer 2017 collection draws on the identity of the brand: the interplay of contrasts, introducing new elements of contradiction. This season the main excursion is the interaction of contradictory fabrics and colours complemented by fitted and oversized garments.

The Gauchère design is influenced by classic menswear tailoring. This season is exaggerated with strong, structured masculine fabrics like wool, denim and paperlike technical cotton. This masculine approach is balanced by fluid, light and soft feminine fabrics like crepe de chine, light cotton, crepe and linen jersey. Playing with the codes of menswear and womenswear, the collection flows between flexibilty and firmness. Fitted feminine garments like dresses, tops and trousers are combined with masculine oversized garments like parkas and jackets. The collection integrates elements from sportswear like zippers, pipings and mesh: pipings of contrasting colours, also integrated in pleats and mesh-like fabrics. This is an urban collection, with glimpses of sportswear and an interplay of gender codes. Always questioning the character of elements and the perspective in which we see things, the designer’s work explores different influences, shifted and reversed.

Techniques: Crochet optic, pipings, pleats, lamination, stitchings.

Fabrics: Crepe de chine (100% silk), crepe, light cotton, melange of cotton viscose with a
crochet optic, technical cotton-viscose-mix, linen jersey, light structured summer
wool, denim, cotton knitwear and leather.

Colours: Bright colours like red, green, orange and blue and black, white and khaki – and a
contrary interplay of these colours, especially in pipings and stitchings.
Metallic colours on leather.

Prints: Large and small prints of palms in contrasting colours on crepe de chine and pleats,
cotton crochet and linen jersey. Black and white, blue and orange on white and
yellow and orange on white.

Shoes: Platform summer boots, with ankle strap or slip on, in metallic leather or matt.
