Chanel Fall-Winter 2016/17 pre-collection arrives in Chanel boutiques
Roman model Mariacarla Boscono lends her dark Madonna image to the Chanel Fall-Winter 2016/17 pre-collection.
With a translucent complexion, smoky eyes and jet-black cropped hair, her slender silhouette moves dynamically before Karl Lagerfeld’s lens. There’s a 1960s swing in the air. With great contrasting effect, the black and white images highlight a feminine and urban style that plays with fashion while summoning up the great classics of the House of Chanel.
First comes tweed and its multitude of variations. A black and white houndstooth version for a contemporary parka-style coat with a hood. A fantasy tweed on a skirt and an oversize jacket; then we see it textured and combined with cashmere over a short dress with long sleeves. In a black, grey and cream houndstooth motif, it also adorns the iconic 2.55 handbag which, from season to season, never stops reinventing itself to accompany every Chanel collection.
Black, the signature colour, sketches each silhouette from its graphic pallet. Used for a pair of braided jersey culottes and a pleated jacket, it blends with navy blue tweed and sets off a satin jumpsuit, a liberating and contemporary variation of the classic little black dress. Thigh boots sheathe the legs in dark velvety leather complete with a vinyl ribbon braid. The knitwear, single coloured or patterned, also features tonalities that echo Mariacarla’s sombre gaze.
With a bare minimum of accessories, the Chanel Fall-Winter 2016/17 pre-collection plays with simplicity to accentuate clothes which are both striking and sophisticated. A light, sassy chic, that’s so terribly Parisian.

Teint diaphane, regard charbonneux, casque noir jais, sa longue silhouette s’anime devant l’objectif de Karl Lagerfeld. Le swing des années 60 n’est pas loin. Très contrastées, les images en noir et blanc mettent en scène un style féminin et urbain qui s’amuse avec la mode et convoque les grands classiques de la Maison CHANEL.
Le tweed d’abord et ses multiples variations. Motif pied-de-poule noir et blanc pour un manteau contemporain façon parka avec capuche. Fantaisie, sur une jupe et sur une veste oversized**, on le retrouve texturé et associé au cachemire sur une robe courte à manches longues. Dans un motif pied-de-poule noir, gris et crème, il pare également l’iconique sac 2.55 qui, de saison en saison, ne cesse de se réinventer et accompagne toutes les collections de CHANEL.
Le noir, couleur signature, dessine chaque silhouette de sa palette graphique. Décliné dans le jersey d’une jupe culotte gansée et d’un blouson plissé, il se marie au bleu marine d’un tweed ou habille une combi-pantalon en satin, variation libre et contemporaine de la classique petite robe noire. Les cuissardes épousent la jambe d’un cuir sombre velouté et gansé d’un ruban vinyle. Les mailles, unies ou à motifs, affichent elles aussi, des tonalités qui font écho au regard ténébreux de Mariacarla.
Avec une accessoirisation minimaliste, la pré-collection Automne-Hiver 2016/17 de CHANEL joue l’épure pour mettre en lumière le vêtement qui se veut tout à la fois évident et sophistiqué. D’un chic insolent et léger, terriblement parisien.
