Natasha Zinko LFW SS16

A determined affirmation anchors Natasha Zinko’s Spring / Summer ’16 collection at a vital point in the young designer’s career: “I can, and I will.”The London-based designer continues to find inspiration in the highly cultured and self-assured women who wear her clothes. For her first on-schedule presentation, Zinko pushes this idea of discovering her muse further than ever, with the exploration of a woman readying herself to take on the world.

A fierce sense of form – where powerful leather pieces in primary bright colours feature contrast pockets and panels – is offset by a romantic fluidity. Complex ideas around femininity and female strength underpin Zinko’s references.

Bold sexual empowerment meets softness, as highly structured forms contrast against delicate lace slips and shorts. Oversized embroidered rose motifs, on crisp white shirts, elegant gowns and red satin boxer-shorts, pertain to the concept of love and beauty so integral to Zinko’s imagined muse as she readies herself for, and contemplates, her future.

What is concealed, and revealed, is carefully considered. Decadent, dramatic satin robes drape across finely boned corsets or carefully constructed leather bra-lets.

At once, the mood is both athletic and sensitive. The aesthetic is cinematic and characterful, translated in an energetic palette of red, white and blue.

“I’m interested in the idea of power – and, equally, in vulnerability. I think women are wonderful, and I’m constantly seeking to explore every facet of what that means; This season is probably my most literal celebration of female complexity. We’re having fun with it, of course.”
