M · A · C gave eL Seed complete freedom in creating this exclusive collection. EL Seed’s inspiration comes directly from the streets, where new trends and color palettes are born: «I draw my inspiration directly from the streets and from the communities of the places where I paint. The calligraphies I paint are words that have a profound meaning. Their universal messages cross cultures to inspire and infuse new energy. ”

With this new make-up collection, eL Seed hopes to inspire not only to unleash her inner creativity, but also, as eL Seed herself does, to use beauty and color to change perception, thus painting her own world. “Like art, make-up can change our perception,” said eL Seed. The artist, who grew up in the Parisian suburbs, used hip-hop culture and graffiti as a means of expression. The expressiveness of Arabic calligraphy combined with the audacity of graffiti has allowed the creation of a new visual language.
From Paris to New York and Dubai, eL Seed’s work invites us to analyze self-perception, invites us to an open mind and to the social unit. eL Seed has focused these inspirations on an extraordinary makeup collection based on its typical shades of pink and black, lively and full of energy. “The extraordinary Arabic calligraphic art of eL Seed is based on these high contrast shades and we could not have had a more stimulating palette to work with” says Mariam Khairallah, Senior Artist of M · A · C, whose creative collaboration with the artist was instrumental in transforming her exclusive color palette into a richly pigmented and trendy make-up. Pink, black, orange and blue are its basic colors, but its versatile palette also includes perfectly wearable neutral colors. “Whether your look is monochromatic or ultra-colored, matte or metallic, it’s the artist in you who decides and expresses himself,” says Khairallah.

This collection is representative of the art of eL Seed and his soul. For the creation of Dima’s Glow, the illuminant Extra Dimension Skinfinish, the artist was inspired by his wife. Gabriela eye shadow is a tribute to the Brazilian poet Gabriela Torres Barbosa, whose work has inspired the lively pink calligraphy of eL Seed in a previous work carried out in a favela in Brazil. The Mayan lipstick is named after her daughter, while the “Declaring Love” lipstick is a reference to a sculpture that is located behind the Dubai Opera.
With M · A · C x EL SEED, the art of makeup meets the artistic talent of the street to create a make-up in the name of creativity and self-expression. The collection includes four Lipsticks, in shades ranging from fuchsia to warm cinnamon, a Cheek & Eye palette, an Extra Dimension Skinfinish illuminant decorated with a calligraphy and a set of brushes.
All the packs have the characteristic vibrant rose by eL Seed, decorated with a calligraphy based on a quote from the Roman statesman Marco Tullio Cicerone: “As the face is the image of the soul, the eyes are the interpreters”.

«Al pari dell’arte, il make-up può cambiare la nostra percezione», ha affermato eL Seed. L’artista, cresciuto nei sobborghi parigini, ha usato la cultura hip-hop e i graffiti come mezzo di espressione. L’espressività della calligrafia araba unita all’audacia dei graffiti ha consentito la creazione di un nuovo linguaggio visivo.
Da Parigi a New York e Dubai, il lavoro di eL Seed ci invita ad analizzare la percezione di sé, ci invita all’apertura mentale e all’unità sociale. eL Seed ha concentrato queste ispirazioni in una straordinaria collezione di makeup basata sulle sue tipiche tonalità di rosa e di nero, vivaci e piene di energia. «La straordinaria arte calligrafica araba di eL Seed si fonda su queste tonalità ad alto contrasto e non avremmo potuto avere una palette più stimolante con cui lavorare» afferma Mariam Khairallah, Senior Artist di M·A·C, la cui collaborazione creativa con l’artista è stata determinante per trasformare la sua esclusiva palette di colori in un make-up riccamente pigmentato e di tendenza.
Il rosa, il nero, l’arancione e il blu sono i suoi colori di base, ma la sua versatile palette include anche colori neutri perfettamente indossabili. «Sia che il tuo look sia monocromatico o ultra-colorato, matte o metallico, è l’artista che è in te a decidere e ad esprimersi.» afferma Khairallah.

Questa collezione è rappresentativa dell’arte di eL Seed e della sua anima. Per la creazione di Dima’s Glow, l’illuminante Extra Dimension Skinfinish, l’artista si è ispirato a sua moglie. L’ombretto Gabriela è un omaggio alla poetessa brasiliana Gabriela Torres Barbosa, il cui lavoro ha ispirato la vivace calligrafia rosa di eL Seed in un precedente lavoro realizzato in una favela in Brasile. Il rossetto Maya prende il nome da sua figlia, mentre il rossetto ‘Declaring Love’ è un riferimento a una scultura che si trova dietro l’Opera di Dubai.
