The address is the same: via Croce Rossa. The Emporio Armani Caffè and Ristorante is completely different. It changed the formula, the layout of the spaces, the design and the gastronomic proposal of a place that everyone can live as they prefer. Inaugurated in 2000 and already a point of reference for the people of Milan and it is the first of its kind. The novelty testifies once again the bond of Giorgio Armani with Milan, made of strong feelings, gestures and important initiatives that from time to time enhance the city.
Expanded and completely redesigned, space has been redesigned to accentuate the variety of the offer. Designed by Giorgio Armani with his internal team of architects, Emporio Armani Caffè and Ristorante fits perfectly in the context of the historic building that houses it. The exterior keeps its balance unaltered, with the novelty of a second dehors that is added to the existing one.
The interior architecture of the whole room is inspired by some elements of the thirties style, period in which the building dates back, to develop a totally contemporary design. The furnishing elements, the subdivision of the rooms and the choice of colors merge to create a welcoming and refined atmosphere.
The ground floor is divided into two parts, connected but independent. From via Croce Rossa, you can access the new large coffee bar where you can taste and buy both fresh pastries of own production, and products Armani / Dolci by Guido Gobino. At the actual lunch, with a varied menu and light lunch proposals, the part adjacent to the bar is reserved. This area is accessed, for the first time, also by the new entrance of via Giardini. Here, the special area dedicated to waiting expresses all the attention and sense of hospitality reserved for the customer. Overall, space is versatile, designed for entertainment at any time of the day, from breakfast, Sunday brunch, until after dinner with the possibility of DJ animated evenings. It becomes special aperitif time with the choice of classic and exclusive cocktails, and the selection of accompanying dishes created ad hoc. In the evening, the welcoming and evocative atmosphere makes the moment of the meeting and the conversations of the post-work pleasant.
The concept has pleasantly rounded lines and natural materials. Capture the look of the ‘ribbon’ in lacquered wood in the champagne shade that connects, in a single three-dimensional graphic sign, the two counters. The fabric of the wall panels, in a special iridescent shade between green and blue, incorporates the dark green of the large square slabs with a ‘seeded’ effect on the floor, designed by the contours of champagne metal. Around the tables, round or rectangular, give a sense of liveliness and movement to the colored chairs, lightly padded, in blue, green or red fabric.
On the first floor
The upper floor leads to the sinuous, scenographic dark green and gold staircase that, as a clear sign, marks the volumes. Here is hosted the restaurant, open for lunch and dinner, with a rich welcome ‘champagne bar’ at the entrance. Following the trend of leaving all the functions visible, the kitchen is visible thanks to the shaded effect glass. A decisive touch of novelty is given by the design, which follows the lines of the ground floor with visual continuity, but differs in the softer colors: light blue and sage green. The natural light, gently shielded, floods the room through the large windows that overlook the small square. The walls are covered in precious silk fabric and are combined with the slabs of the green ‘seeded’ floor with the champagne-colored frame. The rectangular tables along the walls are separated by small glass screens with a delicate palm motif, one of the most significant patterns in the Armani / Casa collection. On the bottom, the small room, which becomes private when necessary, has an intimate and cozy atmosphere with a large dark marble fireplace.
The cuisine between tradition and innovation
The gastronomic proposal of the Emporio Armani Caffè e Ristorante in Milan is wide and varied, responding to the requests of an increasingly numerous and international public. As Giorgio Armani likes, the cuisine is Mediterranean and continues to offer an all-Italian menu, where simplicity and lightness give life to a sophisticated and unique taste. A proposal that is declined in a different way, depending on the moments of the day and the environment in which you choose to sit down. The ground floor, more informal, offers a modern, immediate and faster card at midday and in the evening, with the most classic, genuine and tasty dishes that have always characterized the Emporio Armani Caffè. Saffron risotto, spaghetti with tomato sauce, or Milanese cutlet are made with care that enhances the simple and special flavors at the same time. Upstairs, the restaurant menu is gourmet and blends tradition with innovation with great skill. And it is in this paper that Italian philosophy is enriched with more typical features and traits of northern, Lombard and other cuisines, always maintaining a balance between meat and fish. The research of the highest quality raw materials, the careful preparation of even the simplest proposals, the elegant and essential presentation and the dishes reflect the pleasure of the table according to Giorgio Armani and are the elements that identify and unite all the Armani restaurants in the world.
The art of hospitality
Inside this room where the environment is welcoming, the relaxing and lively atmosphere are the possible moments of meeting and relaxation of the whole day. The discreet presence of the staff ensures at all times an impeccable service, quick and efficient; wherever it is evident accuracy, the richness of materials, attention to detail and quality.
