The Cav Empt collection combines the London of the past with the modernity of Tokyo and opens up to the future. Founded in 2011 in Tokyo, Cav Empt was born from an idea of ​​the famous graphic artist Sk8thing and the Englishman Toby Feltwell. The duo, in the latest collaboration with Nike, manages to combine his personal vision – a combination of their creative talents and cultural references British and Japanese – to the classics of sportswear by presenting Nike Air Max 95 and a capsule of men’s clothing.

“At the beginning of 2000, Nike suits and Nike Air Max were ubiquitous along the streets of London, we founded Cav Empt a decade later and, despite being in Tokyo, images of that time and place continued to be part of us, “explains Toby Feltwell. He also added, “The opportunity to work with Nike has allowed us to interact with this imagination in a more direct way, we can say that we have made a real journey through time, because this collaboration has allowed us to work in the present to redefine our past”.

The cut of the Nike x Cav Empt suit pants translates this approach to perfection. A drawstring behind the knee modifies the silhouette, giving it greater wearability and a more modern appearance. As Feltwell points out “We do not want to take possession of an icon, but we look around elements that we find interesting and try to enhance them,”.

This philosophy is evident in the fabrics and prints that characterize the style of the brand. Instead of limiting itself to the obvious, the brand offers a starting point for a journey of discovery – after all, those who do not risk nothing to get rid of – where shortcuts are not allowed. The Japanese streetwear label added its own unique vibe to the classic ’90s runner by covering it in a digital camouflage pattern. Cav Empt logos also appear on each tongue. Navy blue/tan and white/black pairs will both be up for grabs.

Feltwell also added that, “On several occasions, we have left behind us a trail, so that we can embark on a journey towards the discovery of something that otherwise we would not have been able to know, without losing the way, from this point of view, we are pursuing a tradition”

Il taglio dei pantaloni della tuta Nike x Cav Empt traduce alla perfezione questo approccio. Una coulisse dietro il ginocchio modifica la silhouette, conferendo una maggiore vestibilità e un aspetto più moderno. Come fa notare Feltwell “Non vogliamo appropriarci di un’icona, ma vediamo intorno a elementi che troviamo interessanti e cerchiamo di valorizzarle”, afferma Feltwell.

Questa filosofia è evidente nei tessuti e nelle stampe che caratterizzano lo stile del marchio. Anziché limitarsi all’ovvio, il brand offre un punto di partenza per un percorso di scoperta – dopo tutto, chi non risica non rosica – dove le scorciatoie non sono ammesse.

“In svariate occasioni, abbiamo lasciato dietro di noi una scia, in modo tale da poter intraprendere un percorso verso la scoperta di qualcosa che altrimenti non avremmo potuto conoscere, senza però perdere la strada. Da questo punto di vista, stiamo portando avanti una tradizione”, conclude Feltwell.
