On 29th November, at the Yacht Club de Monaco, Prada celebrated the launch of the Prada Cup – the Challenger Selection Series for the 36th America’s Cup – in presence of 200 guests from around the world. The Prada Cup will be held on January and February 2021 in Auckland, New Zealand, and see the Challenger teams – including Prada’s Luna Rossa Challenge – race in a round robin format to determine which Challenger will line up against the Defender, Emirates Team New Zealand, in March 2021 in the quest for oldest trophy in sport, the America’s Cup.

During the event, Patrizio Bertelli, Prada Group’s CEO and Chairman of Luna Rossa Challenge, together with his son Lorenzo Bertelli, Prada Group’s Head of Digital Communication, unveiled the silver Prada Cup trophy created by world renowned designer Marc Newson and handcrafted by Florentine silversmiths.

The first opportunity for all of the teams to race with their new AC75 flying monohulls, and for spectators to see these amazing boats, will be at the first America’s Cup World Series event which will take place in Cagliari, Sardinia in October 2019.

La Prada Cup si terrà a gennaio e febbraio 2021 a Auckland, in Nuova Zelanda, e vedrà i Challenger – inclusa Luna Rossa Challenge – affrontarsi nei Round Robin per determinare il team che sfiderà il Defender, Emirates Team New Zealand, nel marzo 2021 per il trofeo più antico nello sport, l’America’s Cup.

Durante la serata, Patrizio Bertelli, CEO del Gruppo Prada e Presidente di Luna Rossa Challenge, insieme al figlio Lorenzo Bertelli, Head of Digital Communication del Gruppo Prada, ha svelato il trofeo – Prada Cup – disegnato dal celebre designer Marc Newson e realizzato a mano da argentieri fiorentini.

La prima tappa delle America’s Cup World Series, invece, si svolgerà a Cagliari, in Sardegna, nell’ottobre 2019 e sarà la prima opportunità per i team di regatare con i nuovi monoscafi AC75 e per gli spettatori di vedere queste incredibili barche in acqua.
