Mercedes-Benz presented the Sudi Etuz fashion show, a brand created by the Turkish designer Şansım Adalı, during the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tbilisi, where he presented the Spring / Summer 2019 collection for the first time in the Georgian capital of an international audience.

The show, held at the Georgian Museum of Fine Arts, is an initiative of the Mercedes-Benz International Designer Exchange Program (IDEP), a project that is committed to supporting emerging talents globally and allows young designers to showcase their own collections outside their countries of origin. The show is part of the direct exchange with the Georgian designer Ani Datukishvili, who participated in the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Istanbul on 12 September as part of the IDEP, and who has just marched during this edition of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tbilisi.

Sudi Etuz

A graduate of LaSalle College in Istanbul, Şansım Adalı is considered one of the most interesting emerging talents in Turkey. In 2008 he founded his line, Sudi Etuz, a brand with a romantic and ultra feminine taste.

For the Spring / Summer 2019 collection, Adalı was inspired by her hometown, Istanbul. “34”, the title of the collection, refers to the city’s code on the Turkish car license plates. Many of the elegant fabrics that make up the 32 looks were produced in Turkey and the color palette, in shades of off-white, turquoise, green and purple, was inspired by the Bosphorus, the waterway that separates the two continents of the Asia and Europe. The tulle, a distinctive element of the brand, was used for its couture effect, shown alongside rigorous trench coats, Bermuda shorts and denim.

After the show, Adalı commented: “Presenting this collection in Tbilisi is an incredible achievement for me. I have always had a very international vision, having studied in Brussels and in Antwerp before settling in Istanbul, and this is why having the opportunity to get in touch with the fervent Georgian world has been a privilege that reflects the philosophy of the Sudi brand Etuz. I am grateful for the support that Mercedes-Benz has offered both to my line and to other young designers of my generation “.
