ISSEY MIYAKE opens a new shop in the London district of Mayfair.
Designed by Tokujin Yoshioka in shades of black and white, it features an innovative triangular steel hanging bar, 10 m long, which gives the impression that the clothes float in midair. The minimal space is distributed on three levels and combines the spirit of ISSEY MIYAKE – “making things” – with modern architecture. The limestone staircase in blue Bateig unites the floors. The flooring is also made of blue Bateig limestone slabs cut to size. The space is completed by mirrored walls and glass suspended shelves. An interesting contrast between the historic building and the modern interior design.
