Giuseppe di Morabito: the new Metaphysics

Metaphysics. The theme of the collection spring summer 2018 is inspired by the pictorial intents of the Italian duo Giorgio de Chirico and his brother Andrea de Chirico, known as Alberto Savinio.

The nostalgic style – mixed with the interest towards the modern man of the European avantgard – characterises the subjects portrayed by the two brothers. Within open spaces and dreamy rooms, busts and classical statues are alternate of anthropomorphic birds and impossible architectures. The theme focuses on de contextualisation and the creation of new possible harmonies. The idea is metaphysics, the creation of paralleled realities painted on canvas.

Giuseppe di Morabito’s creation explores one of their parallel realities. His garments are inspired by past eras but reinterpreted without chronological schemes.

Corsets, typical baroque silhouettes and Victorian costumes, are juxtaposed with innovative materials such PVC with pearls and canvas. The typical textiles of the brand, such as jacquard, tulle, and floral prints, meet unexpected garments such as rave trousers and jackets. Historical materials scream of a sophisticated eccentricism.

Feathers and sequins embroideries enrich the garments in a game made of contrasts. The collection investigates possibile new harmonies by re-contextualizing sartorial decorativism in present aesthetic dimensions.
